About

About LADX

LADX is a web workbench for PLC and industrial automation engineers. It puts a ladder logic editor with a scan-accurate simulator, an HMI builder, panel CAD, PLC program conversion, commissioning test records and engineering document templates on one project, with AI help that checks its own output before showing it.

What is in it

10 tools in LADX Studio, the signed-in workspace, all working on the same project and the same tags. Five of them also run in the browser with no account at all:

  • Ladder editor
  • HMI builder
  • CAD
  • Convert
  • Document templates

The full list is on the products page, and the free ones are gathered on free tools.

Who makes it

LADX is built by Wartens Ltd in the United Kingdom, by a team that programs, commissions and documents control systems for a living. The software is used wherever PLCs are, and the writing is in British English.

How the articles are written

There are 121 articles under Resources, signed by the LADX engineering team. Each one starts with a short, direct answer, then the detail.

  • They are drafted with the help of AI and then checked against the vendor manuals, standards and references listed under each article. We say so because you should know, not because it changes what is checked.
  • Where an article quotes a standard, it names the standard. Where it describes a vendor's behaviour, it links the vendor's own documentation.
  • Articles carry the date they were last revised. When a correction changes what an article says, the date moves with it.
  • Nothing in an article is paid for. When an article mentions a LADX tool, it is because the tool does the thing being described.

Found a mistake?

Tell us through the contact form with the article and what is wrong. Engineering articles are only worth reading if they are right, so corrections are the most useful message we get.
