Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated

These are the rules for using LADX, including the forum and anything you share. They form part of the Terms of Service. Most of them come down to three things: do not break the law, do not use LADX to hurt people or equipment, and treat other engineers with respect.

Illegal content and activity

You must not use LADX to post, share, store or generate content that is illegal, or to commit or encourage a crime. This includes, among other things:

  • terrorism content, or support for a proscribed organisation. Accounts run by or for proscribed organisations are removed;
  • child sexual abuse or exploitation material of any kind, which we report to the National Crime Agency;
  • threats, harassment, stalking, or abuse or hatred directed at people because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or gender identity;
  • encouraging or assisting suicide or serious self-harm;
  • intimate images shared without consent, and unsolicited sexual images;
  • fraud, scams, phishing, or selling illegal goods such as drugs or weapons;
  • infringing copyright or trade marks, including sharing cracked software, licence keys or licence-bypass tools for PLC or engineering software;
  • other people's personal data posted without their permission.

Engineering misuse

  • Do not use LADX to design or generate logic intended to damage equipment, injure people, defeat a safety system or interlock, or disrupt critical infrastructure.
  • Do not use LADX to plan or support access to an industrial control system that you are not authorised to work on.
  • Do not present LADX output, in the forum or anywhere else, as certified, validated or safety rated when it is not.
  • Do not use LADX to remove or bypass source protection, know-how protection or any other protection placed on a program by its vendor or author.
  • Follow section 5 of the Terms of Service: no LADX output is a safety function.

Protecting the service

  • Do not probe, scan or test LADX for vulnerabilities except as our security policy allows, and never access data that is not yours.
  • Do not upload malware, or anything designed to harm a computer or a network.
  • Do not overload LADX, get around its usage limits, or use automated means to create accounts or to send requests in bulk, including to the shared free AI tier.
  • Do not resell or redistribute access to LADX or to its AI features, and do not use LADX in a way that breaks the usage policies of the AI providers behind it.
  • Do not scrape LADX other than as our robots.txt file allows.

In the forum and on shared pages

  • Be civil. Disagree about the engineering, not about the person.
  • Stay on topic: PLC programming, automation and the tools around them.
  • No spam, and no advertising beyond a relevant mention of your own product in an answer that would be useful without it.
  • Do not impersonate another person or company.
  • Before you post code or a document, remove anything confidential to you, your employer or your client. Forum posts are public and can be read by anyone.
  • If an answer you rely on came from LADX AI or any other AI, say so.

What happens if the rules are broken

We review reports and remove content that is illegal or breaks this policy. Depending on what happened, we may remove content, warn you, limit what you can do, suspend your account, or close it, and for illegal content we may tell the police or the National Crime Agency. Except where the law or someone's safety prevents it, we tell you what we did and why, and how to appeal, as the Terms of Service explain. To report something, use the Report link next to it or our reporting page.
