Accessibility statement

Last updated

We want LADX to be usable by every engineer, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification or voice control. This statement says how close we are, where we fall short, and what to do if something gets in your way.

What we aim for

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, for the public site and for LADX Studio. We are not there everywhere yet, and the gaps are listed below rather than left for you to find.

What should work

  • Every page of the public site, including the articles, the forum and the document templates, can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Headings are in order, images and diagrams have text alternatives, and form fields have labels.
  • There are light and dark themes, and the theme follows your system setting unless you choose one.
  • Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content, and pages reflow on a phone.
  • Animation is reduced when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Videos play in YouTube's own player, which offers captions where the video's publisher provided them.

Where we fall short

  • The ladder editor and simulator. Rungs are built by dragging instructions onto a canvas, and a screen reader cannot yet read or edit the rungs themselves. As an alternative, an exported ladder program can be turned into Structured Text, which is plain text, with the converter.
  • The HMI builder and the drawing editor. Both are visual editors that need a pointer for most tasks.
  • Generated PDF documents. FAT, SAT and other documents exported as PDF are not yet fully tagged for screen readers. The same documents can be exported as Word files, which work better with assistive technology.
  • AI answers stream in as they are written. Screen readers may announce them in pieces; the finished answer can be read normally once it stops.

We are working through these, the editors first. If one of them stops you doing your job, tell us, because a report from someone who needs it moves it up the list.

Tell us about a problem

Email hello@ladx.ai with the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use. We reply within five working days. If you need information from LADX in a different format, ask and we will do our best to provide it.

If you are not happy with our response
